Reconciliation Week 2024, themed "Now More Than Ever," took place from 27 May to 3 June and was a time of deep learning and engagement at NCC. We were honoured to have Pastor John Beck speak to our school community during Chapel, inspiring us with his powerful message of unity and understanding. The week was filled with meaningful activities, including a special Reconciliation High Tea and staff worships led by the RAP team. Across both the Primary and Secondary schools, students engaged in activities that deepened their appreciation and knowledge of First Nations cultures and histories. They read First Nation-inspired books, completed worksheets and activities, and coloured First Nation-inspired key rings.
The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2024, "Now More Than Ever," reminds us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will—and must—continue. Through these experiences, our students have gained valuable insights and a greater understanding of the importance of reconciliation with our First Nation Australians. This week has been a pivotal step in our journey towards a more inclusive and respectful school environment, for everyone within our school community. - Ms Cassandra Saunders
