Nunawading Christian College (NCC) embraces a reconciliation journey with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families and communities. We recognise that the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are the Traditional Owners of the land and that reconciliation is an important part of healing and fostering a shared understanding. NCC is committed to working together with local communities to achieve Reconciliation through the development of our Reconciliation Action Plan.
As a place of education, Nunawading Christian College acknowledges the necessity of continually learning and growing in our understanding and practices of reconciliation. We aspire to engage with and learn from Wurundjeri elders and knowledge holders to engender holistic education. Australia’s history impacts its present and future, and we believe that truth-telling is crucial to developing empathy and a path towards a reconciled Australia. We believe learning is not always comfortable and should not deter us from deepening our understanding of and compassion for others.
We acknowledge and express gratitude for the Wurundjeri people, upon whose land our school campus resides. We commit to developing and maintaining positive relationships with local community members. We look to the expertise of the First Nations people as teachers and sustainable managers of country.
We believe that we are all created in the likeness of God (Genesis 1:27) and that every person deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. We aim to practice compassion, inclusivity, and celebrate the uniqueness of each person, following Jesus’s example during his ministry on Earth.
