ANZAC Day

ANZAC Day Dawn Service

Published on Wednesday 26 April, 2023

It was an incredibly humbling experience to be at the Dawn service for ANZAC Day. Our students came along with over 400 other people to the Blackburn Memorial to lay a wreath for the fallen soldiers who fought bravely for our freedom.

Our Secondary School captains were invited to take part in the service and read out the poem - The Soul of the ANZAC by Roderic Quinn. Standing there and listening to the bugler at the time when the soldier began their ascent brought to life the words from the poem... '

And there the track to The Peaks began;

And though storm threatened and skies grew black,

You dared the menace and took the track.'

Thank you to the men and women who gave their lives in service.

You can read the whole poem HERE.
