The Prep and Prep/Year 1 classes enjoyed meeting Fireman Dave and Fireman Daniel, when they came for the first fire safety visit on Wednesday 5th Sept. They talked about fire safety in the home. The basic skills of STOP, DROP, COVER, ROLL and DROP DOWN LOW AND GO GO GO were discussed and demonstrated. Unsafe fires were discussed and ways to make them safe were illustrated. The children were shown what a fireman in full firefighting gear looks and sounds like. This then allows the students to understand the process if ever they are in a fire.
During the second visit, Wednesday 12th Sept, the students had the exciting job of helping the firemen practise squirting the hose. There was great excitement as every child had a turn holding the hose and ‘watering’ the garden and car park. There are a number of children who now want to be a firefighter when they grow up!
Beanies should not be worn in the classrooms and are for outside use. NCC beanies can be purchased from the Uniform Shop. Other beanies are not suitable. Shoes need to be black polishable lace-ups from Yr 3 and up. Prep – Yr 2 should have black lace-up or velcro polishable shoes. Runners are not suitable as dress uniform shoes, but may be used for sports uniform. Students with shoulder length hair need to have it tied back. It should not be over the face, particularly when working at the desk. The rest of this Term will give time for making sure the correct uniform is ready for Term 4.
It was a close competition, but the “5 Cent Friday” winning House for Term 3 was GREEN HOUSE! Congratulations to everyone in Green House for collecting all the 5 cent pieces during Term and putting them in the jars in your classrooms. We hope you enjoyed your Casual Clothes day today!
Second place was taken by Yellow, third was Blue and last (but not least) was Red House. House points were awarded to each house according to the number of 5c pieces they collected.
Students: keep collecting those 5 cent pieces, as it might be YOUR House that gets a Casual Clothes day at the end of Term 4!
