Throughout the final week of Term 2, Prep-Year 12 students celebrated Harmony Week as they explored the importance of including and valuing others.
At the beginning of Harmony Week, we had an incursion with INA (International Needs Australia) called Just Like Me where we did a bunch of fun activities like carrying buckets of water on our heads and testing out homemade brooms. We had a great time and learned a lot. – Ava, Year 6
This incursion aimed to help our Primary students understand more of the needs of children living in poor communities, while also raising much-needed funds to assist INA in their work.
During morning worships, our Primary and Secondary students heard stories, watched videos and considered how a Kingdom culture involves harmony. They reflected on why humans find it hard to get along sometimes, but how we are ‘better together’: ‘Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.’ (Ecclesiastes 4:9). They considered how God’s grace is for everyone and how we are a part of the body of Christ: ‘All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.’ (1 Corinthians 12:27).
Our Primary students also created a beautiful video about harmony, which was shared in Chapel. You can watch it here.
The week finished with a Primary dress-up day, as student celebrated our cultural diversity here at NCC.
“So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up.” Romans 14:19
