The stage was set, rehearsals were complete and there was a buzz in the air. Nunawading Christian College (NCC) Primary and Early Learning students lined up outside the gym awaiting their major musical performance for 2018. Inside, parents and siblings eagerly awaited the performance of Not Your Average Joe, the classic Old Testament story of Joseph with a 50’s twist. Leather jackets, fries ‘n’ shakes and surfboards, but the gospel truth remained the same… trust the Lord in all things.
For the past 10 weeks, students and staff were busy rehearsing choreography and learning lyrics for their class songs and as the lights were turned on and the music turned up, all the practice was worth it.
“That Joe – he’s so dreamy!”
Our musical each year is a highlight on our school calendar as it endeavours to involve EVERY student in the primary school, from our Early Learning Centre 3 year-olds to our Year 6 students. This year was no different and it was a thrilling sound to hear the choir of 220 students singing with joyful voices and smiles.
Twenty-seven Year 6 students made up the drama cast and they all did a fabulous job. Many hours of practice outside school time was given, and this Year 6 class must be congratulated on their excellent attitude and dedication to the musical. Special mention to our lead actors:
- Joe: Allan
- Coco: Trinity
- DJ Spinner: Joyce
- DJ Anni G: Anni
- JD: Caleb C
- Kahuna: Caleb X
- Captain Shubie: Muhammad
- Sisters: Joanne, Charlotte, Brianna
Professional DVDs are still available for $10 each. Please call the school to order and pay over the phone. The DVDs make excellent Christmas gifts for grandparents and family members, and will be available for collection at Speech Night on December 6th.
Thanks to all who so generously contributed to our offering collection on the evening.
