As part of the Year 6 unit on Federation and Government, students visited the ACT. The 2018 Year 6 Canberra trip was held in the first week of Term 2. Being there in April, rather than the usual May, we were blessed with warm sunny weather. Students traveled to the nation’s capital by coach and had the chance to participate in indoor rock climbing upon arrival. Year 6 students visited both the current and Old Parliament House, War Memorial, Electoral Education Centre, National Capital Exhibition and the Royal Mint. At the War Memorial all the Year 6 students were able to be a part of the evening service where the school captains laid a wreath and paid their respects to a fallen soldier. Other highlights included the Australian Institute of Sport, Government House, the High Court, Questacon anda lunch time cruise on Lake Burley Griffin. All the students enjoyed their time in Canberra and proudly represented our school.
