On the 23rd of August, two groups of Year 8 and Year 9 students participated in the Write-a-book-in-a-Day competition; which is run as a fundraising venture for the Kids Cancer Project. Each group had 12 hours to write a 4000-5000 word book aimed at 10-16 years-olds. After some blood, sweat and a couple of tears, our teams managed to get their books uploaded with only four minutes to spare! The students were ecstatic when they realized that they had managed to write, illustrate, edit and ‘publish’ a book in the required time. Their books will be distributed to children suffering from cancer around Australia regardless of the outcome of the competition.
Our fabulous NCC students have raised over $250 selling baked goods to enter the competition. They will continue to raise more funds over the next week, so please send some extra gold coins with your students These funds will go towards childhood cancer research to improve treatments and find a cure. The Write-a Book-in-a-Day competition has contributed $430,000 towards childhood cancer research since it began in 2009.
We are very proud of the students that were involved and put it such an enormous effort and we look forward to doing it all again in 2018!
