NCC Secondary Activity Day 2017

NCC Secondary’s annual Ski and Activity Day was held on Monday this week. For those heading to Mt Buller, the day began with a very early start – a 4:30am bus trip. It was -3ºC on the mountain with heavy snow and whiteout conditions for much of the day. This meant fresh snow but also very poor visibility. Lots of our students learned to ski or snowboard for the very first time with the help of Mt Buller instructors. The more experienced students ventured across the mountain, testing their skills on more difficult runs.

While some students enjoyed a cold day on the slopes, the rest of the NCC high school community choose from a wide repertoire of activities on offer. Some spent the day away from school gliding around an ice rink or wandering around the Melbourne Museum. Those at school were involved in brain games, sport, coding or cooking up a delectable feast for a high tea. Staff put in a lot of effort to ensure that students had a memorable and enjoyable day.

“ It was cold but I didn’t feel cold because I felt the togetherness of the group as we went skating”. Troy Year 9

“There were lots of options. I enjoyed playing brain games and doing the coding. Everyone could mix and match what they wanted to do on the day.” Laura Year 9

“I loved the high tea. It was fantastic being able to bake and eat lovely food in the best way possible. I loved seeing Mr Kutschker and Mr Njock wear a tiara for the high tea.” Zoe Year 8

“I thoroughly enjoyed the high tea. Ms Woodhouse did an amazing job and I would love it to happen again next year.” Amity Year 8

Thank you to all our staff who planned events and cared for our students for this day
