Getting to Know Meggan James

Meggan James is our Assistant Secondary Principal at NCC. Meggan has taught all over the world and this week we found out why she loves to teach at NCC.

Describe teaching in three words.

Best job ever.

What do you love most about teaching?

It is a daily adventure where you see transformation happen. I find that very exciting. I love the journey I take each day with my students. I love seeing students grapple with new concepts and find the patterns, poetry and beauty that is inherent in God’s world. I am happiest when I see students discover that learning is a lifelong pleasure and privilege and should never be taken for granted.

What’s special about NCC?

I have worked in many schools on 5 different continents but can confidently say that there is something very special about NCC. It is a place where students love God and others, where they embrace their educational opportunities and where teachers care passionately about the students in their care.

What do you learn from your students?

Humility, patience, the importance of listening and the impact of kindness.

If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be and why?

I love animals, travel and photography so I would probably be a dolphin trainer, an elephant-riding mahout, a conservationist working with endangered cheetahs or a National Geographic journalist and photographer.
