Lens on Learning – Year 6 Transition Program

Lens on Learning is a new concept to focus on an a particular learning area at Nunawading Christian College and how it is relevant to your child’s future both at school and when school is finished.

This week in Lens on Learning we visited the Year 6 transition program where students are working with Mr Thomas in Design Creativity and Technology (DC & T). Once a week, Year 6 students take part in practical learning activities in the Secondary School. The purpose of these lessons is to build confidence and break down any potential anxiety over starting Secondary education. The classes are a great opportunity to build relationships with peers and with Secondary teachers.
This week students were continuing to build their wooden Tic-Tac-Toe games, using the pedestal drill to make holes for the dowel game pieces. It’s great that students can build practical skills while learning the ropes of Secondary School at NCC.
